AU where Thrawn gets captured

Being a prisoner who has not tried to escape in at least a decade does give one several . . . . privileges. At least they are sold as privileges, and Thrawn supposes he will take that.

They've opened up access to additional files on his datapad, which gives him things to think about.

He is allowed to put holos of art on his walls, which also gives him things to ponder.

It's something. He does not, however, receive many visitors.

And Thrawn does not have it in himself to mourn that. So.

Thrawn tilts his head the tiniest fraction.

That person will never be him, not for any politician or government, not now.

He remains not particularly sorry about that, except -- a little, when things like this are brought to his attention.

"Perhaps more than one person, in a world more ideal than this one."

"I don't think I'm the only one."

She pauses again. "But I'm not worried about others finding out my source, if that's what you're thinking."

"No?"

His smile is faint.

"Then I suppose I shall not worry overmuch, either. Though if those you tell do wish to speak to me . . . a comm message from you telling me so would be much appreciated."

She straightens slightly, moving her arms to fold her hands.

"I think I can do that."

"I thank you," Thrawn says, after a quick moment of silence.

"For the consideration."

Hera leans back in her chair again, and she glances up to the art holos.

"Was there anything you wanted to ask me?"

Thrawn merely studies Hera as she looks at the holos.

"Not at this time, I don't think. Though if you could see your way to letting me know how your messages are received . . . I would appreciate that."

He is still never sure which things Hera is likely to do and which she will not. It is -- less frustrating, these days, than it used to be.

"I don't know if I'll be able to come in person," she says, her eyes returning to him.

"But I'll get a message to you."

Thrawn inclines his head in the tiniest of nods.

"And if you would, at any point, like additional information from me -- do let me know."

Hera also nods, in a nearly mirrored movement.

"All right."

"Thank you," Thrawn says, after another short pause.

"And for the visit, as well."

[for_everyone]

She waits for a long moment. But there's nothing more Hera wants to say, no questions or courtesies or lingering truths.

Instead, she nods again, and rises from her chair.
